Operations Director

Location: Remote working with ability to travel as required to attend meetings (in particular to Hertfordshire and London)

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: Competitive DOE plus 8% employer pension contribution
Reports To: Managing Director (MD)

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Operations Director to join the Senior Leadership Team and take responsibility for the effective running of all our business support functions including: Finance, HR, Vetting and IT.

Position Overview:

The Operations Director will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, responsible for directing and coordinating the company’s business support functions, as well as to support the Managing Director in the wider leadership of the company and achievement of the strategic objectives.

This role ensures the efficient operation of Finance, HR (including vetting, recruitment and contracts) and IT to support overall business objectives. Ideal candidates will bring strategic insight and operational expertise, with a strong background in managing administrative functions in a dynamic, small-business environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and Senior Leadership Team on all company matters.

  • Support strategic planning and execution, driving continuous improvement across support functions to increase efficiency and reduce risk.

  • Support the leadership team with organisational development and change management initiatives.

  • Lead and develop business support teams including Finance, HR, Vetting and IT.  

Finance and Administration:

  • Oversee financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and reporting in collaboration with external partners

  • Manage client contracts to ensure billing efficiency, accuracy and compliance

  • Liaise with external accountants and auditors to ensure compliance and timely reporting.

  • Optimise financial systems and processes for scalability and efficiency

  • Manage a fair and transparent process for pay reviews in line with legislation

Operations

  • Manage regulatory compliance, proactively identifying and implementing measures to adhere to laws, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Manage supplier contracts and ensure they meet or exceed expectations in terms of quality, delivery, and cost.

  • Manage assets to optimise the value and performance throughout the asset lifecycle.

  • Manage insurance renewals to ensure continued coverage & competitive terms based on evolving business needs.

  • Manage business GDPR obligations and ensure the protection of individuals' personal data. 

  • Manage business Health & safety obligations ensuring regulatory compliance.

Human Resources:

  • Direct HR strategy including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee engagement and policy development

  • Ensure HR policies and procedures remain aligned with company culture and employment law.

  • Oversee the resourcing process, making sure we recruit the best possible talent.

  • Mature the existing talent management and training to ensure star performers are developed and grow within the business.

AWS DevOps Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic data migration consultancy based in Hertfordshire, operating a remote working model. We are looking for an experienced AWS DevOps Specialist who will be critical to this fast-growing company’s success in delivering large scale data migrations in the cloud.

The ideal candidate will be a senior devops engineer with proven experience creating Infrastructure as Code in AWS cloud and Kubernetes. This role will be required to be part of an out of hours on call rota.

Applicants must be able to work proactively to identify technological improvements, plan forthcoming projects and have a keen interest in IT and emerging technologies.

We offer an excellent salary package which includes an auto enrolment employer pension contribution of 8% and are committed to providing investment in training to help you further develop your skills and knowledge.

This is a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced company, with on-premise and cloud technologies, within an ISO27001 environment.

Essential skills:

  • Good knowledge of Kubernetes and Helm with at least some experience of cluster management.

  • Solid knowledge and experience of provisioning and managing AWS environments

  • Experience of release and build automation pipelines

  • Scripting (ideally to have Python, Bash & Powershell).

  • Source control: GIT /AWS Code Commit

  • Familiar with database server technology such as MS SQL, PostgreSQL

  • Experience of using Hashicorp Terraform to deploy/update/destroy AWS   infrastructure

  • Familiar with provision of VPC's and AWS networking/VPN's

  • Understanding of the principles of immutable infrastructure and ability to put these into practice

  • Evidence of adding value through successful delivery

Desirable skills:

  • Experience of working on Transformation programmes and large client driven projects

  • BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional

  • Experience of working in a secure environment with clearance to SC level.

  • Knowledge of migrating on-premise technology to AWS

  • Windows Server (build, security, AD, GPO, ...)

Mandatory Requirement:

  • Hold current SC as minimum ( NPPV3 clearance desirable but can be obtained )

  • Be on an out of hours on call rota.
