Business Analyst  – UK based remote role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic data migration consultancy in a remote role with some UK travel.

We are looking for a permanent experienced Business Analyst who will be critical to this fast-growing company’s success in delivering large scale data integrations and migrations in the cloud.

The role will involve identifying and assessing changing business needs, capturing, and documenting requirements, analysing the impact of changes, and supporting the business throughout the process. Although not a technical role, many of the requirements will be describing technical processes. You will work directly with stakeholders to support the delivery of business process mapping both as is (source) and to be (target).

For some projects the role would involve defining and agreeing the Data Scope, Business Rules, Data Mappings for example:

  • Agree scope for data sharing
  • Agree Recursive Addition rules / Implied Delete Rules / Business Rules / Scope Rules / Security Rules:
    • Certain records in the source system may need special consideration when being considered for extracting, such as:
      • Records that have been designated as exempt from extraction
      • Data integrity, ensure source and target remain in sync
      • Records requiring enhanced security attributes

The ideal candidate will have a strong business analysis background, be able to communicate effectively at all levels including managing client-focussed workshops and have successfully helped deliver a number of system replacement projects. Essential Skills:

Strong, proven business analysis skills with significant experience of working on large scale system replacement projects.

Experience of structured modelling techniques to capture the business model, user requirements and business architecture design e.g., BPMN, UML etc.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Experience of analysing data fields required to migrate data, exchange data or to provide a data feed between internal systems and third-party applications.

Experience in engaging with stakeholders at all levels and organising and running requirements workshops.

A track record of being extremely delivery focussed.

A methodical and analytical approach to problem solving.

Ability to travel.

Desirable skills:

BCS Business Analysis Certification or equivalent

Prince 2 and/or Agile.

Previous experience working within UK police forces, Government Departments, or other law enforcement agencies.

Mandatory Requirement:

Security Clearance is required to SC level, you must be willing to undergo clearance as part of the recruitment process. Five years’ residency in the UK is a mandatory requirement of security clearance, as is ownership of a passport.


 

Senior QA Test Analyst (£50-60k)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-growing data migration consultancy based in Watford, Hertfordshire, operating a hybrid flexible working model. We are looking for a permanent, Senior QA Test Analyst with significant experience, to join our team.

You will be working mainly on large data integration and data migration projects but with opportunities for working on software development projects too, providing the test skills and experience which are paramount to project success. You will be responsible for test design, data preparation and test execution using your own in-depth skills in technical analysis. Previous experience of working in a technical and agile environment is necessary and knowledge of Test-Driven Development, automated testing will be useful.

Key responsibilities:

 Understand requirements/specifications and convert to test scripts
Identify / manufacture test data requirements
Execute test scripts, validating transformed data source to end point
Analyse test results to ensure data integrity and accuracy
Reconciling Data 1 way, 2 way
Log and track defects, work closely with developers and data analysts

Essential skills:

  •  Strong SQL (Postgres, MySQL, Aurora)
  • Experience of waterfall and agile project methodologies
  • Experience in use of Atlassian toolset Confluence/Jira/Zephyr
  • Experience of testing API’s i.e., Postman
  • Experience of working within cloud-based environments i.e., AWS Databases and Services
  • Good communication skills
  • High attention to detail and quality assurance
  • Understanding of ETL Data Pipeline testing

Desirable skills:

  • Agile engineering processes (Scrum/Kanban, DevOps, CI/CD, BDD/TDD Test Automation)
  • Worked in Government Agency/Public Sector/Policing environment

  • Developing test conditions, test scenarios, test scripts plans and other test artefacts
  • Identifying test data requirements and preparing test data
  • Providing test execution estimates for test cases
  • Hands on test execution and defect resolution
  • Specifying test environment requirements to enable execution of relevant tests
  • Contributing to all stages of testing when required
  • Recording test execution results with Zephyr (JIRA)
  • Raising and managing defects in their entirety using JIRA
  • Reviewing requirement and design documents to identify testable requirements and scenarios
  • Performing environment verification testing

Essential skills :

  • Has good SQL skills – able to write queries, stored procedures, and test scripting.
  • Is experienced in testing data migration processes and other source-to-target verifications
  • Demonstrates a good understanding of data models, data mapping documents and data migration extract, and transform and load.
  • Has the ability to communicate effectively with developers and system users
  • Can effectively write and execute test scripts that capture desired and actual outcomes
  • Has a high standard of documentation in relation to test plans and bug reports
  • Is able to analyse results and recommend potential fixes
  • Possesses ISTQB Foundation qualification or similar as a minimum
