Datalynx – Parenesis Cycling’s Izzie Johnson has been making the most of the return to cycle racing. The pandemic has straddled her final year as a Junior and her first as an Espoir, meaning a lot of lost opportunities, but Izzie has used the opening of the Northern Gateway Sports Park in Colchester to build her experience of circuit racing. She has also ridden at Trinity Park in Ipswich. Riding mostly with the men is hard, but developing her speed has clearly paid dividends and, back to time trialling, she delivered an excellent 22:45 10-mile time trial personal best last weekend.
Looking ahead, Izzie, who is very much an all-rounder, is aiming to ride more criteriums and road races, and is competing in triathlons in Suffolk and Norfolk and – depending on the COVID-19 situation – also at the European Aquabike Championships in Austria.
